Working in partnership with the Children & Young Peoples Services, Crossroads Care provide a weekend club based in Pensby

Every weekend on a Saturday and a Sunday for 4 sessions, children aged 8 to 18 years attend the club which is held at the Pensbywood ATC (Somerset Road Pensby). Our trained staff provide a safe, stimulating environment where carers can leave their children between 9.30am-1.30pm morning sessions and 2.00pm-6.00pm on the afternoon sessions. We have a Session Supervisor, a deputy and 4 play workers on each session. Places are limited to a maximum of 7 per session and we have children with a wide range of disabilities and needs.

It takes special people to work with special needs children and our caring team deal with many challenges in the course of a working day, never more so than when dealing with children with such varying care requirements.

We are looking for volunteers to work alongside our staff, to support them, for example, helping to prepare activity tables or putting out packed lunches and helping to clear away after lunch.

We are not looking for volunteers to be ‘hands on’ with our children - we have trained staff for these needs. This could be a wonderful opportunity for anyone wishing to gain experience of working with children with disabilities.
