The Cameo Groups

CAMEO’ (Come and Meet Each Other)

Each CAMEO Group is a Crossroads Care managed service with dedicated input from volunteers.

The aim of the service is to give Carers respite through the provision of a supportive, creative and social environment for older people in the early stages of memory loss.

There is a choice for carers to stay with the person they care for, or they may leave and return later if they prefer. Lunch is provided by volunteers from the clubs and carers are welcomed to stay for lunch if they wish. There is no charge for lunch.

There is an open referral system in place, but it is essential that assessments are undertaken by senior members of Crossroads Care care team to ensure that those who attend the Group fit the necessary criteria to enable the Group to function positively. There is an activity programme in place which is planned carefully around the interests of each person with memory loss. This seeks to stimulate the person’s imagination as well as offering opportunities for them to interact on a topic they may know well. We always ensure that there is a friendly welcome to all of our clients and their carers.
